As part of our accreditation with the Zoo and Aquarium Association of Australasia (ZAA), we proudly participate in nationally coordinated species management programs. These programs help maintain the genetic diversity and long-term sustainability of native wildlife in human care.
It is never easy to say goodbye to one of our precious animals, but we understand the importance of supporting the greater good of the species.
Reg has now been transferred to Moonlit Sanctuary in Victoria to support the broader breeding program.
At times like this, we are reminded of the words of A. A. Milne:
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
Reg was born at Caversham Wildlife Park in January 2015. Over the years, he has sired numerous joeys and has always been a wonderfully patient dad, often found with little joeys climbing all over him.
Described by his keepers as “a gentleman” with “a tough exterior but a soft centre” and “an absolute boss,” Reg will forever hold a special place in our hearts at Caversham.
A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Moonlit Sanctuary for giving one of our most handsome residents a new home and devoted care.
