The Wombat Awareness Organisation (WAO) in South Australia, specialise in 24/7 rescue, rehabilitation, and long‑term sanctuary care for Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats that cannot return to the wild due to injury, illness, or habitat loss.
On World Wombat Day 2026, WAO reached out to their community asking for donations to help them create a wombat retirement village. A place where the elderly wombats can enioy a quieter and slower pace of life, away from boisterous youngsters and with the extra care they need in their twilight years.
We are delighted to have made a $4000 contribution to this project.
At Caversham Wildlife Park, we are committed to supporting the wider conservation community. As part of this commitment, funds from the Wombat Photo experience tickets are set aside to be donated to reputable wildlife conservation organisations and projects. We are pleased to support the organisations on the ground, carrying out the relentless, often heart-breaking and too often thankless work.
The remainder of each Wombat Photo ticket sale goes directly back into Caversham Wildlife Park. This allows us to continue improving our facilities and providing the best possible care for our animals. Throughout 2026, we have renovated our Tasmanian Devil habitats and built a new Wombat habitat - projects made possible thanks only to the support of our visitors.
Every Wombat Photo taken helps make a difference! We thank every visitor who enjoys this special experience for helping us support such important work.
