Native Animal Rescue (NAR) – Regional Branch Broome – is a not-for-profit and non-government incorporated body, involved in leading-edge conservation programs and collaboratation with local councils, government departments and universities to develop and maintain rehabilitation strategies for our precious native wildlife.
Their main goals are:
The treatment and care of sick, orphaned and displaced native animals and to rehabilitate them back into their natural habitat
To contribute to conservation strategies
Provide facilities for the training of practitioners in wildlife management skills
The education n of the wider community in wildlife issues
To provide resources and facilities to support research into wildlife issues
NAR Broome cares for wildlife in collaboration with other community organisations and initiatives. The centre is lead by local snake expert Chris Mitchell, who is always at the ready to assist the public when a wildlife issue arises. Chris’ wife Debbie cares for marsupials, and together they have a great network of wildlife rehabilitators, businesses and the Shire supporting their efforts.
