Employment Relations Officer


We are seeking an experienced Employment Relations Officer to join our team.

As the ER Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining positive relationships between our wonderful people, ensuring with compliance laws and regulations.

You will work closely with management and staff to provide guidance on employment policies, procedures and best practices. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive employee relations and enhance employee engagement.
  • Serve as a point of contact for resolving employee grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary matters in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints and allegations of misconduct, ensuring thoroughness, confidentiality, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Advise management on employment law matters, including but not limited to, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and accommodation issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Provide training and coaching to managers and supervisors on employee relations matters, conflict resolution techniques, and effective communication strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze employee relations metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop proactive solutions.
  • Represent the organization in interactions with external agencies on employment-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Employment Relations, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in employee relations, HR management, or labor relations roles, preferably in the tourism or animal care fields. 
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations, particularly in Western Australia. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing employee relations issues, conducting investigations, and resolving complex disputes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to upholding ethical standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

 

Hours: This is a permanent part-time position. Hours are negotiable. 

If a suitable applicant was qualified and experienced in WHS also, and could perform a Work Health and Safety Advisory role, a full-time position could be offered to reflect the dual role.
